Chinese Aubusson rugs are among the most lavish Oriental rugs in the market. The word Aubusson has become synonymous with a flat-woven French carpet renowned for their elegant, flowing floral patterns. Now made in China, they are hand made in silk and wool, in the old French style. Rugs as fine as the finest Chinese rugs allow for the most astonishing shading and detail. Aubusson rugs are made of wool, silk or a blend of the two. Regular vacuuming without a beater brush will keep an Aubusson rug from deteriorating over time. Stains should always be addressed immediately. Sadly, these unique rugs are a dying breed and becoming increasingly hard to source.
This is a beautiful rug that is in really great condition. There are only a few very light markings to the fringe. There are also 3 indentations on the rug from a table that was on the rug, we believe this can be steamed back up by a company who works with rugs, we do not have the equipment. Measures 8ft 6" by 11ft 6". Very heavy, thick wool.
